Port of Waukegan

In 2015, the City of Waukegan, in cooperation with the Park District and Port District, tasked Edgewater with the creation of an Active Implementation Plan to realize the vision of the 2003 Master Plan. A significant public engagement process was integrated to develop a plan with broad community support. Then, a more focused Port District Master Plan included planning services to envision a fully public waterfront with recreation space, beaches, parks, and mixed-use commercial and residential space, all while supporting the working port operations. Edgewater has continued to work with the Port District in marina renovations and dredging, waterfront development strategies, port planning, operations, and $12M in state grant funding.
